SUMMARY: The Delivery Driver trainee is responsible for learning the coordination of inventory and unloading of trucks from a Delivery Driver. Works with Delivery Drivers and Supervisor to learn, perform, and complete all safety checks. The Driver Trainee unloads and maintains product invoice counts with the Delivery Driver. Will drive a tractor/trailer combination vehicle with 2 years+ Class A driver to gain experience. This position is required to obtain a CDL permit and proceed through a prescribed education path to become a fully licensed CDL-A driver.Finally, always provides the highest level of customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manually unloads using a two-wheel cart on metal truck ramps.
- Works in truck cooler and freezer sections.
- Checks customer invoice of products that have been loaded.
- Completes required temperature checks.
- Performs safety check inspection of truck and trailer.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Company, and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
- Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
- Will obtain Class A permit within 30 days to gain driving knowledge and experience to prepare for testing of a Class A license.
- Attend required class at our Northfield facility to obtain a Class A license.
- Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 21 years or older
Experience - No experience necessary
- MVR must pass company standards for hire and insurability.
Skills - Interest in pursuing a CDL A license/Delivery Driver career with Upper Lakes Foods.
- Must have or obtain a CDL permit within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to perform the duties of loading, unloading and inventory.
- Comprehension of basic warehouse and delivery operations.

- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, taste or smell.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 60 pounds.
- The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Must have ability to safely transport product using a loaded two-wheel cart walked down a ramp.
