Job Description

Job Overview:

Assist the Director of Sports Health in the planning and completion of specialized tasks critical to the execution of the University s overall sports health program in addition to performing all of the duties assigned to the full-time Athletic Trainer - Assist with the supervision and coordination of the University s overall sports health program, including, but not limited to: injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student-athletes, and athletics-related health care administration under the direction of licensed physicians and in consultation with other qualified medical personnel.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • National Athletic Trainers' Association BOC certification in good standing.
  • New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners Athletic Training License in good standing.
  • Active AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks while working proficiently under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality and discretion in managing personal health information.
  • Ability to routinely lift equipment and supplies, up to 50 pounds, from ground and assist with ambulation of injured individuals.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in athletic training or related field of specialization.
  • Professional experience as an Athletic Trainer working with highly motivated individuals in collegiate or elite athletic settings.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Non-tranditional working hours, holidays, evenings, and weekend required.
  • Travel required during specific periods based on competition schedules.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate the clinical experiences for athletic training students through regular communication with CAATE-approved educational institutions.
  • Assist in the creation and/or maintenance of athletic training clinical site contracts with CAATE-approved educational institutions.
  • Create and maintain sports health policies and procedures pertaining to the athletic training students, aids, and volunteers.
  • Assist with staff awareness, education, and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage the applications and on-boarding process of athletic training aids and volunteers.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling of regular staff education opportunities, in-services, etc.
  • Provide athletic training services for the University s athletic department.
  • Attend scheduled team practices and competitions, home and away.
  • Manage the comprehensive health-related needs of the assigned team roster through professional interaction and patient-centered approach.
  • Provide first aid and emergency medical care to athletes through accepted medical standards.
  • Develop and/or implement procedures and routines for attending to and dealing with minor day to day injuries of athletes.
  • Provide rehabilitative services for athletes, under the direction of team physicians and in coordination with staff physical therapist. Provide reports when requested.
  • Within the bounds of confidentiality and other related matters of propriety, make sure that relevant information is set forth and presented to coaches, academic support, and health service providers, as well as to athletes and their family members in a clear, concise, and cogent format.
  • Other duties as assigned.
